Nursing Home Negligence
At the Law Offices of Judy Greenwood, P.C., we represent victims who have been injured as a result of nursing home negligence, mistakes and neglect. Because these cases are often complex, we have a doctor/lawyer available to review the facts of your case, and to provide the medical insight necessary to determine if there was negligence or substandard care.
Unfortunately, at times, those most helpless and vulnerable are treated with little attention and concern rather than with the greater level of care that their physical and, at times, mental condition requires. Often our beloved senior citizens have little choice, after illness or injury, but to relocate from their familiar homes into rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. For various reasons, these friends and relatives often suffer further illnesses and injuries in these surroundings. Medication errors; bed sores; fractures from falls from bed because of bed rail error, alarm failure, or poor nursing observation; falls while walking due to inadequate precautions; and inattention by poorly trained staff and doctors, missing signs and symptoms of serious conditions such as pulmonary embolism, are just a few examples of the types of negligence that occur in nursing homes, long-term care facilities and other care centers.
As in cases of medical malpractice, nursing home litigation requires expert testimony to establish the acceptable standards of care, how the defendants breached that standard, and to prove what injuries and damages flow from the facility's failure to comply with the standard of care, up to the time of trial and into the future.
